Individual Therapy

Every therapist has a unique style – there is evidence that suggests that the ‘success’ of therapy often is determined as much by the client/therapist relationship as it is the particular style or training of the therapist!

The main thing I bring to therapy is myself and my experience. As strange as it might sound, I think therapy can be fun.  Working in home hospice and dealing every day with death and grief, I was amazed how life goes on.  This means that even in our pain we have moments of light, humor, and warm connection to others.  I strive to model this and make room for it in my practice.

My areas of specialty:

  • Dealing with diagnosis of an illness

  • Widow/widower transitions

  • Caregiver stress

  • Divorce

  • Grief due to family addiction/loss due to addiction

  • Traumatic loss, including suicide, accident, violence

  • Finally, I have a wide range of experience in spiritual issues related to death, dying and loss.  I do NOT advocate at certain religious tradition, but am passionate about the relationship of loss to your religious or spiritual background and meaning-making in general.  I work with clients of every religious or non-religious background.

 Some facts about my sessions:

  • Typically, I see individuals, but I will see family members in session as ‘support’ for my clients.  Though I am not a couples’ therapist, I will see couples as part of a ‘family therapy’ model

  • I see clients from 14 years old through 90 or older

  • My sessions typically run 50-60 minutes

  • Fee:  $180/hour.  I do not take insurance, though I am happy to provide invoices/statements to submit to insurance as an out of network provider.

  • I maintain 2 places in my schedule for clients at $60/hour
